SANTA FE 1600 CLASS 2-10-2 an HO scale brass model marketed by Westside one of the premier importers in 1979. Made in Japan with a large can motor and reduction gear box. The original models were of the 3010 class which were re-built out of retired ATSF 2-10-10-2 mallets. In essence they are identical the 900 and 1600 class 2-10-2s most of which had regular rectangular tenders. The owner painted and numbered this loco to a 1600 class locos with this 'whale- back' large capacity tender on the Peavine line to Phoenix. They were used as heavy yard switchers, for branch line freight to mines and for helper service at places like Raton and Tehachapi Pass.
Headlights and makers lights have jewels/MV lens.
Loco is smooth and quite quiet for an all metal loco. Minimum radius suggest i28".
Its original box is a little worn at the edges. The interior foam is beginning to break down, but the loco is kept wrapped in its original polythene. The top layer of foam (see photos)
